Some people before moving love to pack by themselves and keep record of everything. Here are some tips for self-packers that will help avoid mix-up.
First, get boxes. Word of advice – never use weak box that crush easily. Use a sturdy box that withstands the rigors of traveling or does not get spoiled if it rains when you are moving. Try and get small or medium sized boxes for packing as they are easy to lift and load in the truck.
Second, one should determine how to go about it, where to start and what to pack first. It is always suggested to pack the things first which you require the least. And then move to the most important things to be packed, which generally includes kitchen stuff, clothes and school or college text-books.
Third, buy bubble wrap and packing paper. You will need it to provide a safety layer for the things you think are fragile and can break easily like sculptures, plates, frames and wall hangings. Wrap them in bubble wrap and before putting them away in a box, stuff the box with wadded newspaper.
Fourth, follow a room-by-room approach rather than mixing up everything together. There should be different boxes for bathroom, bedroom, living room and kitchen. For unpacking convenience, label all boxes.
Fifth, don’t pack items that you don’t want to take to your new place. Give it away, sell it or trash it.
These are the best DIY packing tips that you need to keep in mind whenever you are moving to another place or a country. Happy packing!
